Wanted to share these awesome, easy to use Tire Inflation Stations at Costco that fill tires with Nitrogen instead of air. It says members only, but you don’t have to swipe a membership card or pay.
Not sure if they are at Costco locations in other countries or Costco locations without a Tire Center.
This is a really good offering for Costco members, but it is ***NOT*** free for anyone. Yes, the machines are nitrogen, yes, they are being installed outside the tire centers, but even as the picture OP posted, they all have a sign that advises **”Costco Members Only”**.
For members, it is fantastic, but please be fair and do not be surprised if a bored tire center person rolls out to ask for your membership card. 🙂
Where are you guys going to get air that you have to pay? Almost every gas station near me (Wisconsin) either has a free air compressor or doesn’t have air at all.
In CA it’s supposed to be free at all gas stations for customers and they’re supposed to provide a tire gauge too. You can report it if they don’t. I don’t know how effective reporting it is.
I use them even though I have my own air compressor. I have a couple of those, but they take forever if you have big tires like on my jeep. Good to have in an emergency though.
Also, in most of the country (CA, at least) air is free at gas stations so long as you buy gas. Just ask the teller kindly to turn it on, and they will. Saves you a dollar or so these days.
For all the Canadians, I’ve always just popped into the gas station and asked them to turn the air on. I’ve never been charged for it. I’ve heard it’s required to be offered for free, though I’m not sure if that’s actually true.
Living in Sweden and I am very surprised (or not really) that not all air pumps are free in the US. In Sweden they are all free and almost every gas station has them.
What does it cost to fill a tire when it is not free?
BJ’s gas stations have free air as well.
Air pumps should be a free amenity and this is a hill I will die on.
There’s free air at Sheetz too
Discount Tire fills up free and you don’t have to get out of the car
[This](https://www.freeairpump.com/map/) is a great source for free air near you. Contribute if you find new places!!!
Wawa has free air too.

“After 5 minutes of getting air” – “Your free trial is up. Please head inside to buy a membership”
Haven’t been to a QuikTrip that hasn’t had free air.
Caseys and QuickTrip too.
I use them even though I have my own air compressor. I have a couple of those, but they take forever if you have big tires like on my jeep. Good to have in an emergency though.
I’m going to fill the back of my truck with so much free air.
Wait, you guys have to PAY to get your tyres inflated?
I’m slightly angry.
Wait you have to pay for air in your tires in America?
Shhhhh!
jk

You ordinarily need to buy air in the US? Can’t just roll up to a servo and pump your tires and fill up your water?
In California all air pumps are free. Just ask attendant to turn it on.
Any tire place I’ve been to will give you free air.
Where are these usually located? Next to the tire shop? I haven’t noticed these at my local Costco.
Membership is technically required for use.
Like as anywhere else in the world, next step medicare for all. Cmon america, act civilized.

Quickcheck also
also free in WaWa
For the record, as far as I know BJ’s and Wawa have free air as well.
I wish Brooklyn Costco had gas and these nice things…
My local mechanic has free air

May as well stock up at this price.
Can’t believe y’all have to pay for air!!
Every tire shop near me will not only give free air but will also put the air in for you for free.
As it freaking should be EVERYWHERE. There was a [bill introduced for this](https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2011/A4402) in NY… but nothing happened from it. I wonder why…
So now I can wait 20+ minutes for air now too! Yay. An hour well spent getting gas AND air!
